Ms. Stella Spooner
(Ridgedale, Saskatchewan, CANADA)
Bestowed with the Rank of Commander in the Illustrious Order of Merit for outstanding service to the town Ridgedale, Saskatchewan, Canada where she is described as:
"truly a servant to the community,
her activities as a volunteer and the duties carried out on behalf of the village, mostly unpaid but undaunted".
Stella was the Waste Plant operator - 1989 - 2005. She saw to the adding of chlorine and carried out the monthly tests.  She also connected the houses to the water supply and located water leaks - knows how to fix the pumps etc.

At the present time Stella cuts grass in the village (which helps to keep the village looking smart).  Also cuts the church lawns all with little or no thanks, she is also the Ridgedale Cemetery caretaker where she currently cuts the grass, maintains plots and marks the graves as well as keeps the records of the burials.
Stella is the Senior Citizens Association secretary/treasurer and also treasurer for the Bingo Club. She also keeps the Seniors Hall in a good state of repair. Stella gives tirelessly of her time to others in the village where she looks in on the elderly and infirm and helps them where she can, even drives them to town for doctor’s appointments, etc. and is often called upon by many residents in the village/area to house sit whilst they are away for long periods of time - this in itself shows the trust people have for her. She has carried out shifts at all village functions - baseball tournaments, bike and snowmobile rally’s.  She was very much the information centre for the village 85th reunion in 2007.
It is said of Stella Spooner that she is "always volunteering her time for others; there are so many things Stella does that this village would be in a sad shape without her".
What a great things to be said of one by ones peers!

Stella was presented with her award at a dinner
put on by her local community in Ridgedale, Saskatchewan.
