Lt. Sir Richard Ananda Barton KOWL., BA (Hons)., RHRL.
(Gosnells - WESTERN AUSTRALIA)
Elevated to the Rank of Knight Commander in the Order of Wisdom & Learning for:
Services to the Principality and it's Sovereign in his active role as a Lt in the Royal Hutt River Legion and his ongoing active and outstanding community support and dedication, as well as his service provided to the ethnic communities in Western Australia.

Lt Sir Richard is a most deserving recipient of an elevation in Honours, his dedication to working with ethnic communities is most admirable and he has very quickly taken the Royal Hutt River legion on board having joined up with the Legion and taken the position of Lt Commanding his own Unit located in Perth where he is now actively recruiting additional members to expand the Unit whilst at the same time establishing the Unit as an active one in various charitable fields in his local area, as can be seen by his 1st Barton Platoon 'After Action' quarterly Unit reports published on our website.

Lt Sir Richard continues to provide guidance and leadership to those around him and endeavours to educate all that come into contact with him as to the needs of others and the means by which most assistance may be provided to those in most need.

Holly Allen
(Peppermint Grove, Western Australia, AUSTRALIA)

Outstanding contribution to sport & to the Principality and its Sovereign.

Ms Holly Allen has shown both courage and determination whilst representing this Principality and its Sovereign in her position as a member of the:
Royal Hutt River Silverfish, International Swim Team.

Holly has not allowed her young age of only 11 years to stop her taking on open water events such as this year's Busselton Jetty Swim where Holly performed admirably in her very first competition open swim for this nation, helping the team to achieve 12th place out of a field of 60+ 4 person teams entered (despite her Father Marshall Allen being team Captain!)
We look forward to seeing much more of this young lady's efforts in coming years.

As with the previous two young people, Master James Allen has also shown both courage and determination whilst representing this Principality and its Sovereign in his position as a member of the: Royal Hutt River Silverfish, International Swim Team.

James' young age of 14 years has not deterred him from taking on open water events such as this year's Cottesloe Swim Busselton Jetty Swim (helping the team to achieve 12th place out of a field of 60+ 4 person teams entered) and a great feat of being one of only two Kayak Paddlers providing support this year for the PHR Silverfish team whilst taking part in the Rottnest Channel Swim.  James performed admirably in his very first competition open swim for this nation.
We look forward to seeing much more of this young man's efforts in coming years.

KCIOM

Knight Commander (KCIOM)

KCIOM

Marshall Allen CIOM
(Peppermint Grove, Western Australia, AUSTRALIA)

Bestowed with the Rank of
Knight Commander of the Illustrious Order of Merit for:
Ongoing and outstanding service to sports, the Principality of Hutt River & its Sovereign.

Marshall was responsible for bringing a Perth Bicycle Road Race Team named the "Silvertails" to race under the flag of PHR in 2010 with HRH Prince Leonard as their Patron.
The team has been named
the "Royal Hutt River Silvertails" and in their new PHR Team colours they provide a sight for the eyes as they race at various events around Perth, Western Australia.
Marshall, as well as competing, provides the liaison between the team and the Principality as well as maintaining the Team website and handling Team publicity and management tasks.

Apart from his involvement with the RHR Silvertails, as if that was not physical enough, Marshall was one of the formation members of another team, formed to represent the PHR in 2012, this time involved in watersports, or more accurately open water swimming.
The team was suitably named the "Royal Hutt River SilverFish".

The efforts and enthusiasm of Marshall Allen are something to be very proud of and his actions speak much louder than his words (generally he is too out of breath to speak) as far as his support of the Principality and its Sovereign goes. For this alone he is well deserving of this Award recognising his input to the PHR.

Bringing home Gold for the Principality of Hutt River
Promoting good sportsmanship everywhere!

DCIOM

Dame Commander (DCIOM)

DCIOM

Ms. Maha Abdulmunem Mohammed BBus(Acc).
(Perth, WESTERN AUSTRALIA)

Bestowed with the Rank of Dame Commander of the Illustrious Order of Merit for:
Outstanding Services to Humanity.

Ms Mohammed was forced to flee with her family to Jordan, from her native Iraq, following the American invasion in 2005. Since then she has devoted considerable resources to helping Iraqi refugees. This has included risking her life to guide a representative of a Japanese non-government organization visiting Iraq.

Ms Mohammed was inspired to begin helping refugees when she shared the poverty and suffering of people who had settled temporally in Jordan after escaping Iraq. She began collecting donations of money and goods to help her fellow refugees. Initially supported only by family and friends Maha enlisted the support of the Omani Embassy and Iraq Hope, a philanthropic group based in Japan. Since money was extremely limited all work had to be done by Maha and her collaborators where they often worked through the day until after midnight.

While this work brought Ms Mohammed much joy and satisfaction, her life was hard, Iraqi refugees were denied the opportunity to work or to settle permanently in Jordan. An offer from the Australian embassy to come to Australia offered both a lifeline and a dilemma. On one hand it offered Maha and her family the chance of a new life in a free country, on the other it would mean leaving her work in Jordan.

Before leaving Jordan Maha established a working committee to continue the projects she had started under the name Benevolent Hands’. Since arriving in Australia she continues her work with them via the internet, offering advice and support as well as actively working for the organization in Western Australia.

Ms. Mohammed has continued to support disadvantaged people in Iraq. Late in 2012 Maha visited Mosul, the Biblical 'Nineveh, ' with a representative from Iraq Hope for 21 days. The unstable political situation made abduction or murder by militia groups a constant risk. To give only one example Maha and her companion had to leave a centre for disabled people early to avoid an attempted kidnapping.

Braving the danger brought real benefits to the communities visited. With Maha’s guidance, Iraq Hope provided urgently needed medical equipment to a centre for handicapped children. This visit also saw arrangements made with philanthropic American doctors who volunteered their time and skills to perform surgery on Iraqi children suffering birth defects caused by toxic metals from expended ammunition.

Maha has helped others at great personal risk to herself. She is a leader in her community, always willing to work with anyone, Iraqi, Japanese, American or Australian who wishes to help the disadvantaged. Her courage, willingness to take risks to help others and ability to think ‘outside the square’ epitomize the qualities valued by H. R. H. Prince Leonard and the Principality of Hutt River.

Benevolent Hands

Dame Maha worked hard to establish support from the Omani Embassy, Iraq Hope which is a sister type aid agency based in Japan, as well as the all important support of philanthropic wealthy Iraqi people and medical personnel to provide financial and medical support where needed.

In the last year alone, Benevolent Hands arranged:

bullet $56,720 donated by Iraq Hope to rebuild Al Atta'a institute including, to furnishing the centre and providing equipment.

Benevolent Hands is currently working towards sending a group of Iraqi doctors from Mosul to Japan for training in haematology, paediatrics haematology, pathology, paediatric cardiology, orthopaedics, ophthalmology, radiology and brain surgery.

Benevolent Hands in Western Australia has worked with the Ethnic Communities Council of WA and the Royal Hutt River Legion to assist Iraqi refugees settling in Perth. At Dame Maha’s request the RHRL collected books and magazines on Australia which are being distributed to Iraqi refugees to aid them to assimilate and better appreciate their new country as Benevolent Hands is currently working with an aim to build links between Iraqis living in Western Australia and between the Iraqi community and the wider Australian society.

A lot of work ahead for this wonderful organization, but with help from people and organizations like the Royal Hutt River Legion much can be done to improve the life of so many others.

Congratulations
Benevolent Hands!
