The RHRL Command HQ in
Nain this first quarter of 2015 has been heavily involved in preparations
for the PHR 45th Anniversary, which is to take place over the PHR designated
Anniversary Celebration long weekend of April 25 & 26.
Some items of clothing and
household goods were still collected and we are pleased to say, handed to
charity outlets in the region for distribution to those who can best make
use of them.
This quarter also saw a
report from the small French unit, the 1st Michaux Platoon . They informed
us that over the winter period they had been able to supply temporary
accommodation for a number of families that were in great need. Winter seems
to be the time when the Platoon has most opportunities to assist those in
need and they certainly provide the assistance and support where they are
able. It would be nice to see this unit expand in numbers, even another unit
started in France so if you are reading this and interested in helping your
fellow citizens in France who have need of assistance, then please contact us
in the RHRL Command HQ by emailing
phr.rhrl@principality-hutt-river.org
and lets have a chat. Same goes no matter where you may live and whether you
would be on your own or have friends who would like to join with you, we are
looking for those interested in providing assistance in local areas wherever
you may be located.
In
HRH Service,
Board of Officers - RHRL Command HQ
1st Barton Platoon
(Perth, WESTERN AUSTRALIA)
I am pleased to supply the quarterly report for
January – March 2015, from the Royal Hutt River Legion (RHRL) – 1st Barton
Platoon.
In spite of their many responsibilities all members of the platoon, and
supporters, contributed to our priorities.
Sgt. Amanda Casselton has continued to play a leading role in providing
gifts for socially isolated seniors. Feedback from Amaroo Retirement Village
indicates that these gifts were greatly appreciated by the recipients. Sgt
Casselton also made a significant contribution to the platoon’s response to
the Northcliffe bushfire, when we donated a quantity of toiletries, toys and
children’s books to the Manjimup CWA, to replace material distributed to
people evacuated due to the emergency. Lastly Sgt. Casselton’s participation
was invaluable in our providing Easter eggs and DVDs to Mary Smith Women’s
Refuge.
Cpl. Lisa “Aliyah” Oliver’s ability to contribute to the Platoon was
circumscribed by pregnancy and birth. In spite of this she remained active,
helping to donate magazines to the Manjimup Medical Centre, assisting with
the delivery of magazines to the Manjimup Public Library and with gifts for
socially isolated seniors.
Activities January to March 2014.
